    CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO) VACANCY

    First Federal Co-operative Credit Union Limited is a fast-growing financial institution with three full-service branches in St. Kitts and Nevis.  We are seeking an experienced, committed and results-driven Chief Financial Officer to join our diverse team.

     

    Position Summary

    The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for directing the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, stakeholders and the financial community.

     

    Key Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

    1. Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory financial statements in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards, regulatory framework and industry best practices.
    2. Develop, implement and monitor accounting procedures systems and internal controls.
    3. Prepare financial budgets and forecasts (capital and operating).
    4. Supervise accounting including review, analysis and reconciliation controls and the resolution of accounting issues.
    5. Oversee the preparation of filings with the Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC) and all regulatory bodies.
    6. Liaise and co-ordinate with the external auditor to ensure that all financial matters of the Credit Union are carried out in accordance with accepted practices and proper controls exist to monitor all transactions.
    7. Assist with the implementation of all financial policies and day to day administration of the affairs of the Credit Union.
    8. Preserve the integrity of financial information.
    9. Recommend any improvements to the organization’s internal processes and procedures.
    10. Oversee and direct treasury investment, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting and insurance activities for the organization.
    11. Analyse, consolidate and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.
    12. Oversee and direct the preparation and issuance of the organization’s annual report.
    13. Analyze studies of general economic, business and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and operations.
    14. Evaluate and recommend business partnering opportunities.
    15. Lead, appraise and develop the staff in the Finance Department.
    1. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

     

    Minimum Required Skills, Abilities and Personality Traits

    • The Chief Financial Officer must demonstrate the following attributes:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

    • Ability to adjust quickly to new challenges and cope effectively with pressure.

     

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
    • Professional accounting designation i.e. ACA, CPA, ACCA, GCA.
    • Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field would be an asset
    • Minimum of at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial or public accounting.
    • Previous experience in a credit union or a financial institution will be an asset.
