JOB TITLE: Laboratory Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Simulation Laboratory
Seeking for an experienced Registered Nurse for the position of Laboratory Assistant, to provide Support in educational sessions, using sophisticated medical simulation technologies including, but not limited to Human Patients and Clinical Skills Simulation.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that the Human Simulation Lab operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis. The educational sessions is required to meet the educational/simulation needs of undergraduates and graduates medical education. Specifically, a Simulation Laboratory Assistant operates and maintains the equipment and supplies used to drive the high fidelity mannequins. Laboratory Assistant coordinates activities within the Human Simulation Lab in consultation with Faculty.
THIS POSITION HAS PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON CUSTOMER SERVICE:
1) Persons applying for position should possess these traits reliable, personable, credible
2) Should have knowledge of medical equipment, excellent organizational skills, computer skills and communication skills and must be able to work independently
3) Collaborates with course directors and or faculty in preparation of supplies and equipment necessary for lab instruction
4) Cooperates with UMHS Faculty to design, develop, implement and evaluate new simulation courses, scenarios and educational initiatives in collaboration with content experts
5) Participates in community, educational and professional organization activities supportive of UMHS’s Mission
6) Assist the Campus Nurse with Medical Student needs as required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
1. To perform job successfully individual (Registered Nurse) must possess an active RN Licensure in any jurisdiction desirable
2. Diploma or Associate level education is required
3. Minimum of two years’ experience
4. Should be physically able to perform essential duties
5. Excellent working knowledge of computers.
6. Working knowledge of Human Simulators is vital
7. Ability to work with diverse faculty and students
8. Be able to employ computer software programs to create the virtual simulations environments
