Comment: Back in the middle 70s when rap was in its infancy, I was one of the persons who gave it a transitory life. I taught it will die an early death. Most rap artists were displaying their craft either on the side of the street in New York with the help of boom boxes so heavy you almost had to be a body builder to carry it around, and other early rappers developed their craft in neighborhood parks. Slowly rap began to take off as artists like Curtis Blow, RDMC, LL Cool J, Sugar Hill and others set fire to the art and it exploded. However, the business side of it was lacking and unscrupulous producers took advantage. Now the rappers are starting to focus more on the business side, and more of them like Fifty Cents are diversifying so that they can have residual income. |
