Comment: Are these people for real? They filed an application for an injunction and for judicial review. They also filed a certificate of urgency with their application. The judge refused to grant injuction but they got leave to seek judicial review. Having gotten leave for judicial review they now dragging they foot. Comment: This is particularly encouraging to read. Although I do not live SK...this country is my foundation, my heritage and apart of my identity. I am a social worker living in Canada who has a strong interest in the issue HIV/AIDS. When I was last in SK I saw countless billboards addressing this issue, so it is good to know it is seen as important. In reading this piece I agree that stigma and discrimination need to be challenged so that this issue can be addressed and people can be educated and well-informed about HIV/AIDS. Fear and a lack of understanding about HIV are what propels the discrimination that people living with HIV/AIDS experience. Reading about the different initiatives that SK is bringing to the public is great as well! Even sessions like these could be introduced into the school system to provide young people with this very important education. I also agree that the work of HIV/AIDS co-ordinator (Gardenia Destang) is incredible and of course there is always room to grow and I believe support surrounding this issue will get stronger! Possibly by involving social workers to engage with individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS can help them begin to cope with what can be a very difficult experience. But I am definitely encouraged by Lindsay Grant and PAM’s commitment and dedication to this issue...its amazing!
