Comment: It is sad to see some of the close-minded comments about this reward. Whether the anonymous person is actually a "local businessman" or not we do not know, but if the reward money is coming, accept the generous offer as it will do what another commenter said- to "start the process" of catching criminals and locking them up. It is not bribery or endorsing criminal activities. These kinds of "rewards/negotiations/plea bargains" take place in all civilized society to keep law and order in check. Although it is unfortunate that a reward could not be offered in all criminal investigations, it is a blessing for the police commissioners family that they have a friend who shares their grief and is able to help in this way. It is not because the commissioners son's life has more value than anyone else, it is because they have a family/friend who has the means to help. In times like this, it should be family and friends who rally and do what they can for the family, if they have the means. I'm sure the police are doing everything in their power (with whatever training and resources they have been provided with) but as with the state of the government and money in SK, how would it be possible for a police "fund" to be started for situations like this? The family friend of this young man should be commended for his desire to bring closure for the family and a small bit of peace back to the streets of SK with the conviction and imprisonment of this murderer. |
