Comment: As a person in the mental health field, I know what childhood rape can do to a child. Many children of childhood rape grow up with depression, while others become overly promiscuous. Many have sexual problems even after they are grown and are ready to have adult relationships and she has to live with the stigma of being a rape victim. A man alters the course of a child's life and in 16 years he gets to walk free. Blame it on the alcohol

Comment: Unlawful carnal knowledge seems to be the equivalent of the US statutory rape. This happens when an adult has sex with a minor even if the person consents. The fact that the person is a minor means they are not able to consent. So how does an adult rape a 7 year old and even have the option to plead to unlawful carnal knowledge. This should never have been on the table. That child is scarred for life and all the bastard gets is 16 years. How is this justice?
