Comment: This is one of those poorly written articles that catches the interest but comes to no conclusion. We still do not know if Mattingley is a gated community and who put the hut there. SKNVibes must have been having a slow day today. Either that or it needs to write and edit its materials better.

Comment: One should learn their history before doing a story. The guard hut was there since Crop time and the gate is one that used to alert people that the engines wid the canes were passing so not to cross. Since I was a little child this hut and gate was there and I am now in my 40's. The guard was put there by the Nursing school because their students were getting robbed right there all the time.

Comment: I live at Mattingley, and it is NOT becoming a gated community. The guard hut and gate have always been there, and previously used to stem the flow of traffic as the sugar cane engines passed across the Mattingley entrance. The hut is more noticeable now because the Medical Schools have fixed up the hut and painted it white, and installed new windows to protect the guard on duty from weather elements. The schools placed the guards there to protect their students from criminal incidences.

Comment: I was reliably informed that the guard house is just to assist with security in the area for students ( and locals). As a resident in the Mattingley area I am happy to have a guard around. In these dangerous times any security around is welcome. It is not a gated community. No one can be stopped from entering.
